Insectx - Red Velvet Ant

The Red Velvet Ant is actually a wasp, not an ant. They look like ants because the females have no wings. As you can see they are very large which is why they can sting quite badly; this has earned them the name "Cow Killers". These lil' buggers usually travel alone so you don't have to worry about a swarm of them attacking you.
